• Swiss chard does not transplant well, sow directly into soil
• Sow 6 seeds per 30cm as soon as the soil can be worked and cover with 1.5cm of fine soil
• Once seedlings reach 7-10cm in height thin to 20-30cm apart. Use the thinnings in salads
• Start to harvest outer leaves once the plants are 20cm high
• Cut plants back in late summer to encourage further growth for harvest through autumn and well after the first frost
