This gorgeous little yellow water Melon is one of the earliest and sweetest available. The delicious fruit reach 900g to 1.4kg each and although they have a tendency to crack when ripe or when trying to slice, it isn’t an issue when eating immediately, and trust us – you will! • Likes a soil rich in well rotted compost or farmyard manure
• Sow seeds on their edge March-May 1cm deep in 7cm pots.
• Place in a propagator or somewhere you can maintain temperature at 20-25°C
• Days to germination: 5-10
• Once plants have their first set of true leaves pot on to a 13cm pot for a few weeks
• Harden off carefully if growing outside in a warm, sunny, sheltered spot
• Water regularly and feed with a liquid fertiliser every two weeks
• Pinch out the tip at the 4 leaf stage and train side shoots
• Hand pollinate if required
• The fruit is ripe when it sounds hollow if you tap it with your knuckles
